“He’s been on tour for a while — been practicing for a while. His throat is sore, so he’s not allowed to talk during this interview,” Shaq tells ET, explaining that he’s translating for Justin as the teen pop sensation rests his voice for a concert that night.

The two stars are set to square off in a dance challenge on the season finale of “SHAQ vs.,” airing Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 9:01 p.m. on ABC. Will the Diesel have what it takes to cool the red hot Bieber fever?

“Basically it’s not really a challenge,” admits Shaq, who says he’s just glad to be scoring cool-points with his kids, some of who are big Bieber fans. “For me it’s about being the best parent, the best dad I can be. Because let’s face it: He’s the best… Nobody can beat him. I can’t beat him. And I don’t want to try to beat him.”

Shaq and Justin also team up on stage in a collaborative performance — and that’s the prospect that really has Justin worrying, Shaq says.

“He thinks I’m gonna do okay, but he’s kind of nervous, because he think I’m old — even though I’m 38 years young,” the Boston Celtics star laughs.
