MANHATTAN — The Biebs was in an “Empire State of Mind.”

Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber helped light up the Empire State Building Friday to encourage people to donate toys for children during the holiday season.

The “Baby” singer flipped the switch at the iconic skyscraper along with members of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and Arthur from the new movie “Arthur Christmas.”

Bieber was pictured with a miniature version of the skyscraper, which shines green and red, and took photos with the Marines on the building’s observation deck.

“They were blue American Apparel pants. I was like, I’ll take them. They are Justin Bieber’s pants after all.

“I thought I could earn a fortune selling them on eBay. They had clearly been used but I was just walking around the studio swinging them around.”

Olly found Bieber’s boxers after the singing foetus had pre-recorded an X Factor performance last week.

But before Olly’s army of female fans start to get worried, he told me he didn’t end up taking them home as a memento.

He joked: “In the end I gave them to a girl who works on the show and is a massive fan.”

Disney star Selena Gomez today addressed the recent paternity suit against her boyfriend Justin Bieber.

In an appearance on today’s edition of US chat programme, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 19-year-old briefly touched on claims that the singer fathered a child with fan Mariah Yeater.

Ellen asked Gomez: ‘You’ve been all right?’

To which the Wizards of Waverly Place star replied: ‘I have been, yeah,’ adding the situation ‘it’s not easy’ to deal with but she is okay.

DeGeneres, referring to reports that the lawsuit had been dropped, then continued: ‘Everything’s all good now. You knew that all along but it’s nice to have everything out in the open now.’

Selena replied: ‘Yeah, it’s good to just kind of be good.’

On a lighter note, when the host asked the star if she could tell Justin to pull his baggy trousers up, she joked that she’s already told him to but he ‘just laughs’.

But Selena received some comforting news today, as her stalker Thomas Brodnicki was taken off the streets on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

TMZ report that he is to be placed under a conservatorship and returned home to Illinois to receive medical care, well aware from Gomez, who he claims he needs to kill after conversing with God.

Meanwhile Bieber, 17, also discussed the issue during a radio interview on the Elvis Duran morning show in New York today.

He said: ‘As far as the whole baby situation, it’s unfortunate that it had to happen like that, that people make false accusations. but things happen in this industry and you just have to keep your head high and be positive and that’s all I really have to say.’

He also made light of the story, saying he found it rather boring.

‘If it was up to me, it would have been a better story, like, “Justin Bieber went off to South America with this 27-year-old supermodel.” That would have been an awesome one.’

Meanwhile, Yeater is said to have tried to cover up text messages claiming another man was the dad, according to reports.

Yeater is said to have asked a friend yesterday to delete an incriminating message.

In a number of phone texts leaked to TMZ.com, Mariah wrote to a friend: ‘ERASE ALL MESSAGES from my mum where she says Tristyn is [ex-boyfriend] Robbies Son.’

She then says in the message that if her pal helps in the cover-up, he’ll get a cut of the money ‘when we get paid’.

Justin has maintained from the beginning that he never met Mariah, and was willing to take a paternity test.

Bieber’s lawyer, Howard Weitzman, told US website Gossip Cop in a statement: ‘This information proves Mariah Yeater fabricated the story.

Our independent investigation indicates Ms. Yeater never meet Justin, she has consistently identified another man as the child’s father, and Ms. Yeater and her co-conspirators hatched this scheme in order to extort money from him and to sell her story to the media.’

Yeater is thought to be continuing a claim against the Canadian singer out of court.

Justin Bieber is celebrating Christmas early this year. In addition to the release of his Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, the Baby singer will be part of the entertainment lineup at the star-studded ‘Christmas in Washington’ annual event.

According to a report from KOvideo.net, the Biebs will join fan favorites including Cee Lo Green, Jennifer Hudson, the Band Perry and Victoria Justice on December 11th at the 30th anniversary of the ‘Christmas in Washington’ spectacular.

This is actually the second time the Never Say Never singer has performed for this Christmas concert. He made his White House debut back in 2009 and has even been inside the Oval Office.

“I got to hang out with him in the Oval Office,” Justin Bieber says of President Obama. “I got pictures with him.”

“President Obama…his kids really like me, which is cool. I’m actually doing ‘Christmas in Washington,’ and I’m performing for him and the whole Senate and all that,” he shared.

Conan O’Brien will serve as host of the holiday event, which actually airs on TNT on December 16th at 8PM. It is being filmed at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

‘Christmas in Washington’ sounds like it will be an excellent way to help celebrate the Christmas season, made even better for Justin Bieber fans by his performance at this event.

It’s quite an honor for Justin Bieber to have been asked not once, but twice, to perform at the ‘Christmas in Washington’ event. It’s clear that he is respected by President Obama and his family for his music as well as for who he is as a fine and upstanding young man.

What is a Sunday morning without a juicy Justin Bieber story? You may want to sit down for this one. Apparently the Bieb’s alleged baby mama may be telling the world a lie. I told you to sit down. Mariah Yeater was doing her daily texting, as we all do, and let a few ditties slip about her lawsuit against the mop-top, teen idol.

Yeater, 20-something (wasn’t that a TV show in the 1990’s) withdrew a lawsuit earlier this week against the miniature crooner. The suit named the Bieb, as those of us in the know like to call him, the father of her son Tristyn. A 20-somethng person should know better than to text information relating to a high profile case, shouldn’t she? At least she didn’t tweet. A+ for good thinking on her part.

TMZ, where I get all of my important news of the day, published a text which was allegedly sent by Yeater to one of her friends. The contents are startling. Apparently, the bubbling Bieber is not the father of Tristyn, it is Robby. Now, to be fair, Robbie and Bieber almost rhyme. Well, they share three letters; that’s close enough.

After relaying the information about Robbie, Yeater did the right thing…she texted her friend back with these words; “ERASE ALL MESSAGES.” Something similar to the Watergate scandal and President Nixon back when David Cassidy played the Bieb.

Not a very loyal comrade, the friend rushed to TMZ with her cell phone in hand. “Look, look, my friend is lying about the Bieb. Can I get in the news?” Good friends are hard to come by. I was once stabbed in the back by; let’s call her, J_dy Me_dows in the third grade. You know Ed_y Gal_ego_ was mine! Whew! That felt good.

Bouncing Bieber is no stranger to odd news about his onstage persona. He almost choked on his chocolate milk when he saw that he was dead. “Ma, that can’t be true. Take my temperature.” The boy-toy phenom was tweeted as dead several times this year. That can be a real turn-off to prospective Selena Gomez replacements.

Selena has helped fund an app called Postcard on the Run that helps users print and send postcards of photos from their iOS and Android devices. She found Postcard on the Run while fiddling with her iPhone on tour. She fell in love with it and told all my friends about it, then she emailed the company and told them she wanted to help. Selena has now participated in a $750,000 funding round for the start-up, its first outside investment and her first-ever tech investment.

Maury Povich has invited Justin Bieber to his show ‘Maury’ to take his paternity test. Spokesman said: ‘We are actively pursuing this story.‘ Former ‘Maury’ executive producer: ‘This would be a huge TV event. When I brought the DNA test to TV for the first time on Maury, I had no idea it would still be as popular today as it was then. Maury is trusted by millions of viewers and if Maury told Justin ‘You are not the father,’ everyone would believe it.’
